The Efficient Moscow Metro System

A Beautiful Metro System

Russian (particularly Moscow) public transport in general is incredibily efficient. I am an engineer (Turkish) and worked in Moscow for 5 years. Everytime I use metro, my admiration has increased due to:

1- Its price (single toll for all system no matter how many interchange you make)

2- Its integrity (convenient and quick connections among different lines in a circular net)

3- Its accessibility (all entries in various critical locations which are right by tram or bus stations)

4- Its punctuality (almost never late and a new train every 60 seconds in peak hours)

5- Its speed and power (no matter how packed, it never slows or struggles to accellerate)

6- Its cleanness and esthetics (some stations are literally like a 5-star hotel lobby)

7- Its air conditioning (coolness in summer, and warmness in winter having the ideal temperature)

8- Its escalators (as they go much faster and carry much more people than western or asian ones)

9- Its historical value (all artwork as they have built their last main line back in 1993!)

10- Its future value (as they keep it expanding in the same clever ways)

11- Its cultural value (as Russians mostly meet or gather in or by Metro stations)

12- Its touristic value (as no surprise that people travel to Moscow just to experience it!)

&&&&&&&&&

I am absolutely blown away. After watching a video about Saturday night in downtown Moscow and now this, sums it up for me. As an elderly American remembering the constant propaganda about Russia it boggles my mind to see such beauty, cleanliness, numerous stores, restaurants, but most of all, there is no graffiti on the walls, no broken statues, no loitering gangs, or thugs waiting to shove you in front of the train.  You can tell people feel safe. OMG, American subways are a complete cesspool compared to this.
